Lisa Burns is a self-taught acrylic and watercolor artist who resides near Downer, Minnesota on 12 acres of land adjacent to her family home.  Lisa draws her inspiration from her country surroundings, love of animals, beekeeping, and her Minnesota roots.

Since childhood, Lisa has been drawing and painting from life and her experiences growing up on a farm.  As a high school student, her interest in art was nourished by the exceptional art educators in the Barnesville school system. She graduated from Minnesota State University Moorhead with a BSA in Accounting.  During her education at MSUM, Lisa pursued a minor in art and completed courses in art history, drawing, and ceramics.  She has also participated in several watercolor workshops sponsored by Red River Watercolor Society (RRWS) and local art educators.

After her college education was completed, she began working for the United States Postal Service.  In April 2021 she retired after 25 years and is currently a Premiere Artist at Gallery 4.  She has participated in several local art exhibitions including the Biennial Crow Show at the Spirit Room, Hawley Art Show, RRWS National Juried Watermedia Exhibition (as invitational), FMVA Small Exhibition, FMVA Big Exhibition, and Art of the Lakes Plein Air.
