Michael Lackey is the Distinguished McKnight University Professor at the University of Minnesota Morris, where he teaches courses about twentieth and twenty-first century intellectual, political, and literary history. He is the author and editor of ten books, and he has published dozens of articles, interviews, and book chapters. His current work focuses mainly on biofiction, literature that names its protagonist after an actual historical figure.

He has two forthcoming books, one from Routledge: Biofiction, an Introduction,
which will be the first textbook for the study of biofiction, and one from Bloomsbury: Ireland, The Irish and the Rise of Biofiction, which will be the first study focusing on Irish biofiction.
