Visual

Becky is a long time resident of the Alexandria lakes area having been raised in Henning, MN. She graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. After retiring from her teaching career in the Alexandria school system she is now able to pursue her own visual and fiber art interests. Her journey as a life-long learner continues. Her current focus is making Gyotaku art incorporated with her fiber art. Becky uses real Minnesota fish and the traditional Japanese gyotaku printmaking technique to create unique one-of-a-kind fish art. “I find my gyotaku art is not only a detailed record of one's catch, but a unique art décor addition to any home, office, den, cabin or business. My gyotaku capture the exact detailed anatomy and size of the fish in a way that photography and taxidermy cannot. Yes, I do commission work to capture one's trophy catch! Bragging rights preserved.” Becky’s art inspiration comes from nature and what surrounds her every day. Whether she is memorializing the beauty of fish through Gyotaku fish rubbings, using Eco printing with leaves and flowers or fabric dyeing, her hope is to inspire people to better appreciate and take care of nature and our environment in every way.
